Tesla Offers Free Supercharging for Hurricane Isaias Relief
Free charging is available at three Florida locations through October 18 as power outages persist across the region.
Tesla has announced free Supercharging at select locations in Florida to support residents recovering from Hurricane Isaias. The initiative runs through October 18 and targets areas hit hardest by the storm.
What Happened
The @TeslaCharging account announced on X that Supercharging will be free from October 13 through October 18 at three specific stations in the Florida Panhandle. The participating locations are the Gulf Breeze station at 1430 Tiger Point Blvd, the Destin station at 981 US-98, and the Pensacola station at 7171 N Davis Hwy. Each of these sites features 12 stalls. Tesla also advised owners to charge to 100% at home if possible, noting that while 80% is standard for battery longevity, full charges are recommended during grid instability. The company stated it is prepared to deploy mobile Superchargers powered by Megapacks if charging access remains disrupted.
Why It Matters
This relief effort addresses critical infrastructure gaps following Isaias, which made landfall near Destin as a Category 2 hurricane, leaving at least four people dead and causing power outages for over 500,000 customers across Florida, Alabama, and Georgia. With nearly 396,000 customers in the Florida Panhandle and southern Alabama still without power early Sunday, free charging provides essential mobility for residents who may lack home charging access due to grid failures. This follows Teslaβs recent disaster response pattern, including free Supercharging for wildfire relief in France and Spain earlier this summer.
The Bottom Line
Teslaβs free Supercharging offer in Florida runs through October 18, though the company indicated it could extend the relief window or add locations if power restoration efforts face delays. Owners can check live availability via the Tesla app or vehicle touchscreen.
