Tesla Halloween Mode Adds Ghost Avatars, Pumpkin Visuals, and Fright Show
The feature includes interactive graveyard scenes, skeleton pedestrians, and four new themed wraps available in the Toybox.
Tesla’s Halloween Mode, accessible via the Toybox in software update 2026.38.3, transforms the vehicle’s interface and exterior presence with a suite of spooky visual and audio effects. The update allows owners to enable the theme year-round, featuring a ghost costume for the car’s avatar and interactive environmental changes.
What Happened
The feature is located in the Toybox alongside Santa Mode and includes two primary toggles: Ghost Costume and Trick or Treat. When Ghost Costume is active, the car’s avatar appears draped in a glowing white sheet with eye holes. In Park mode, this triggers a fullscreen visualization of a graveyard with a haunted house, full moon, and interactive elements like jack-o’-lanterns and a zombie hand. Cybertruck owners receive a dedicated parked scene where the sheet is stretched over the truck’s angular shape. During driving, the ghost sheet ripples based on speed, while other vehicles glow green, pedestrians appear as skeletons, and traffic lights transform into colored pumpkins. Lane markers for FSD (Supervised) and Autopilot change to purple. The Trick or Treat mode activates exterior speakers to play spooky sounds and flickers lights when visitors approach a parked car, though it disables Sentry Mode, the security alarm, and walk-away lock while active. Additionally, the update introduces four new wraps, a Halloween-specific lock sound, owl hoots layered over turn signals, a schedulable light show called 'Fright Show,' and a Halloween-themed Photobooth.
Why It Matters
This update highlights Tesla’s strategy of using software to differentiate its vehicles through seasonal and interactive experiences, similar to the long-standing Santa Mode. For owners, it offers a significant customization of the user interface and exterior presence, though functionality is split by hardware. Vehicles with AMD-powered infotainment units receive the full feature set, including the parked scenes and Photobooth extras. In contrast, Intel-based cars are limited to the new wraps and lock sounds. The inclusion of the Fright Show, which allows multiple Teslas to synchronize light and audio effects, encourages community interaction and showcases the vehicle’s connectivity capabilities.
The Bottom Line
Halloween Mode provides a comprehensive set of visual and audio overrides for Tesla vehicles, ranging from skeleton pedestrians to interactive graveyard scenes. While AMD-equipped cars get the full experience, Intel-based owners are restricted to wraps and sounds. The feature remains available in the Toybox for use at any time of year, with the possibility of future holiday themes suggested by Tesla’s pattern of seasonal updates.
