Tesla Hits 85,000 Superchargers at 9,000 Locations Worldwide

Network grew by roughly 5,000 stalls in six months, with 365 sites currently under construction.

Tesla’s Supercharger network has surpassed 9,000 active locations and 85,000 stalls globally, marking a significant acceleration in infrastructure deployment.

What Happened

According to data from supercharge.info, the network now comprises 9,000 open and active sites with over 85,000 stalls. Tesla’s Director of Charging, Max de Zegher, confirmed the accuracy of the figures, stating, β€œYour numbers are very close to ours.” This milestone arrives approximately six months after Tesla reached 80,000 stalls in April, indicating the addition of roughly 5,000 new stalls in that timeframe. Q3 data shows Tesla opened about 2,700 stalls during the quarter, a 15% increase year over year, while the network delivered 2.4 TWh of energy between July and September, up 29% from the previous year.

Why It Matters

The rapid expansion is driven by evolving deployment strategies, including the recent debut of the Accordion Supercharger and the use of pre-fabricated posts to speed up installation in complex locations. Currently, North America hosts the majority of the network with 43,158 stalls (51.1%), followed by Europe (26.7%) and Asia Pacific (22.1%). While 98.8% of sites remain Tesla-owned, the Supercharger for Business program accounts for 106 locations, allowing third-party businesses to operate Tesla-managed stalls while retaining most revenue. Furthermore, 62.5% of all Supercharger sites now support other EVs, representing 71.8% of total stalls, highlighting the network's shift toward broader accessibility.

The Bottom Line

With 365 sites under construction and 1,412 more planned worldwide, Tesla is on pace to reach 90,000 stalls by next spring at its current rate of 2,500 to 2,700 new stalls per quarter.
