Tesla App Adds Live Supercharger Site Maps and Stall Status
The feature, introduced in app version 4.61.0, allows owners to view stall positions and open bays on their phones without needing AMD Ryzen hardware.
Tesla has rolled out a new feature in its mobile app that allows owners to preview Supercharger site layouts and live stall status before arriving, expanding access to a tool previously limited to the vehicleβs infotainment screen.
What Happened
With the release of Tesla app version 4.61.0, owners can now access Site Maps directly from their smartphones. When zooming into a supported Supercharger location on the charging map, the interface switches from a standard street view to a site-specific diagram. This map displays stall positions, occupied bays, out-of-service posts, and a real-time count of available Superchargers. Notably, the map also identifies which specific Tesla model is charging at each occupied stall.
Why It Matters
This update removes a significant hardware barrier that previously restricted the feature. The in-vehicle Site Maps, introduced with the 2025 Holiday Update, originally required AMD Ryzen infotainment hardware, leaving many Intel-based Model 3 and Model Y owners without access. By bringing the feature to the app, Tesla ensures that all owners, regardless of their vehicleβs infotainment configuration, can assess a charging site before arrival. This capability allows drivers to identify open stalls, locate ADA bays, and determine the best pull-in strategy, potentially reducing time spent circling congested lots and helping users select sites with faster charging availability.
The Bottom Line
While the appβs Site Maps do not reserve stalls or alter Fast Charging mechanics, they provide a practical preview that transforms an unknown parking lot into a familiar environment, offering peace of mind and better planning for trips to unfamiliar locations.
