Tesla Opens Public Interest Form for Cybercab Fleet Orders
The form went live September 3, the same day Tesla hosted an invite-only launch event in Austin.
Tesla has launched a public interest form for companies looking to purchase fleets of its Cybercab robotaxi, marking the first official channel for commercial orders of the purpose-built autonomous vehicle.
What Happened
The page, titled 'Help Us Build Our Robotaxi Network,' went live on September 3 alongside an invite-only Cybercab launch event in Austin, Texas. Applicants submit their name, email, phone number, company name, and deployment region, then select one or more interest categories including Cybercab fleet vehicle purchasing, mobility hubs and infrastructure, event collaboration, or other. Tesla says a representative will follow up with interested parties. Until now, the company had no public ordering path for the two-seat vehicle, which was first shown as a concept at the October 2024 'We, Robot' event.
Why It Matters
Regulatory filings list the Cybercab with a 48-kilowatt-hour battery, a single 219-horsepower front motor, and an EPA-adjusted range near 290 to 300 miles. The vehicle has no steering wheel or pedals, designed from the ground up for unsupervised operation. Tesla has already registered dozens of Cybercabs with Texas authorities and is testing them on public streets around Austin. The form signals that Tesla intends to expand beyond operating its own fleet, potentially allowing third-party operators to purchase vehicles and join Tesla's ride-hailing network under a platform-fee model.
The Bottom Line
Whether the interest form leads quickly to firm purchase agreements remains unclear. Regulatory approval for widespread unsupervised autonomous operation varies by state, and Tesla has not published pricing or delivery timelines for fleet customers. The company has previously discussed a target price near $25,000 to $30,000 per vehicle.
