Tesla Semi’s Biggest Adopter Gives Update on Production Timeline
Einride CEO expects all 500 units before end of 2027, with first 75 arriving this year.
Tesla’s largest Semi customer has outlined a tighter delivery timeline for its 500-unit order, expecting the full fleet to arrive before the end of 2027.
What Happened
Swedish transport service Einride placed what Tesla calls its largest single order for the all-electric Semi. In a recent interview, Einride CEO Roozbeh Charli said he expects to have all 500 trucks delivered before the end of 2027, with 75 units arriving in his fleet before the end of this year. The company had previously anticipated taking delivery over two years but now expects the full order within roughly 16 months as Tesla’s production ramps up. Charli noted that Tesla Semi deliveries are firming up and that Einride decided to make a larger commitment once that timeline became clearer.
Why It Matters
Einride is not just buying trucks—it is integrating them into its Saga AI platform, which helps logistics companies with budgeting and forecasting. A reliable supply of Semis gives Einride more vehicles to deploy on that platform alongside its existing Amazon partnership. For Tesla, a customer taking all 500 units before the end of next year represents meaningful volume certainty for a vehicle still in early production stages.
The Bottom Line
Tesla is building the Semi at a dedicated factory in Sparks, Nevada, and plans an official launch on September 24. Testing has been underway for several years with companies including Frito-Lay and PepsiCo on regional routes.
