Tesla Semi Gets Its Largest Order Yet
Swedish trucking company Einride orders 500 all-electric Class 8 trucks for its Saga AI fleet platform.
Tesla has secured its largest order for the Semi truck, with Swedish freight company Einride AB placing an order for 500 all-electric Class 8 units.
What Happened
Einride announced the 500-unit order following its second-quarter earnings call. The trucks will operate on Einride's Saga AI fleet intelligence platform and serve clients including Amazon across logistics routes in California, New Jersey, Texas, Illinois, and Georgia. Deployment will occur in phases over two years as Tesla ramps production at its dedicated facility in Sparks, Nevada, with the first Semis expected in September.
Why It Matters
The order signals growing enterprise confidence in electric freight operations beyond early pilot programs. Einride CEO Roozbeh Charli called it proof that the company can execute at scale customers demand, while Dan Priestley, Tesla's Semi Program Director, highlighted how EV heavy trucks provide lower costs per mile through fuel savings, reduced maintenance, and better uptime over diesel alternatives.
The Bottom Line
With 500 units committed, the Einride order eclipses previous Semi deployments and moves Tesla's commercial truck from pilot-phase testing toward larger-scale commercial operations.
