Tesla Brings Model Y L Launch Series to the U.S. at $61,990
The longer-wheelbase Model Y arrives with three rows, 325 miles of range and September–October deliveries.
Tesla has officially launched the Model Y L in the United States and Puerto Rico, with deliveries for its Launch Series trim slated for September or October at a starting price of $61,990.
What Happened
The Model Y L is the longer-wheelbase variant of Tesla's popular compact SUV — a configuration that has been available in China since last year. It arrives months after Tesla discontinued its only other pure SUV, the Model X, leaving the brand without a three-row option on these shores until now. The vehicle features a three-row, six-seat layout with Captain's Chairs in the second row and heated and ventilated seats across all rows. Tesla lists 325 miles of range and a 0–60 mph time of 4.4 seconds. Standard Launch Series extras include door trim puddle lights, a suede dashboard wing, exterior and interior badging, floor mats and sill plates.
Why It Matters
U.S. buyers have been pressing Tesla for a larger vehicle since the Model X was phased out. The Model Y L fills that gap directly — adding two extra seats, meaningfully more cargo volume (89 cubic feet of trunk space) and a suite of features not found on standard or Premium Model Y variants, such as 19-speaker Immersive Audio, adaptive damping suspension, staggered tires and larger rear windows with an expanded tailgate. At $61,990, it targets buyers who want the brand's tech and charging ecosystem but need more interior space than the two-row Model Y provides.
The Bottom Line
Tesla is positioning the Model Y L Launch Series as its flagship three-row offering for the U.S., combining extended range, six-seat practicality and exclusive trim extras at a sub-$65,000 price point. First deliveries are expected this fall.
